Jānis Urbanovičs (born March 23, 1959) is a Latvian politician. He is the leader of the Harmony Centre party and a deputy of the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Saeimas (Latvian Parliament). He began his current term in parliament on November 7, 2006.
Urbanovičs was running for Prime Minister in the 2010 Latvian parliamentary election from his party.
From 1984 until 1991 Mr. Urbanovičs was the secretary of the central committee of the Komsomol in the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic of the Soviet Union.
